Georgia-Mae
Hello students! My name is Georgia-Mae Roots, a recent law graduate from Jesus College, University of Cambridge. Whilst I am new to tutoring, I look forward to supporting you through your degree, A-Level and GCSE studies by sharing the methods and tools I have developed during my degree. I would love to share my passion for learning with other students through my clear and effective communication both verbally and in writing. I worked very hard throughout school, college and university and asked a million questions, so I understand how important it is to have someone to answer them in a way that does not make you feel silly- because you never are! I would love to be that person for you.
How my tutoring works:
- Customised learning: I understand that no two students have the same magnificent brains, so no method of tutoring should be universal. I aim to individualise each session to you to achieve your optimal potential and create a comfortable environment where you feel confident to ask for help. I understand that tutoring is expensive, therefore I am happy to offer one-off sessions as well as recurring sessions to you – whichever suits you best.
What I offer:
- General enquiries: I am comfortable in helping clarify complex concepts using my patience, compassion and problem- solving skills I developed during my own learning.
- Skill-based assistance: I offer skill- based assistance on how to read articles and cases, revision techniques for memorising statutes, legal principles and cases, how to summarise and spot important information, how to take efficient and useful notes, how to research successively and how to manage your time effectively.
- Examination preparation: Having only recently graduated, I have a recent grasp on the examination process and how to prepare for both traditional closed book exams and more modern open-book online exams.
- Essay writing: During my degree, I completed a 12,000-word dissertation in Family Law and wrote 20 1,500-word essays for the supervision system per term. Therefore, I am well practiced in breaking down essay questions, issue spotting, condensing essays, restructuring essays and proof-reading. If you need any assistance in these aspects, I will really help!
- Oxbridge application: I have had experience assisting students with the UCAS application process, personal statements and interview preparation. As a 2024 graduate who completed the Oxbridge application process recently and has spoken to various academics about what they are looking for in an applicant during my time at university, I am relatable to current students and in touch with the current system.
- Mooting assistance: I offer mooting assistance on constructing skeleton arguments and bundles.
About me:
- Education: I have a strong education background, as well as practical experience in the legal sector, allowing me to provide industry-related insights in tutoring sessions.
- Awards: I am a proud recipient of the Shentons Solicitors Award for the highest A-Level Law grade in my college, comprising of 4,500 students.
- Mooting: I have mooted as a finalist for a Court of Appeal judge and was a semi-finalist in the Cambridge University Law Society’s Cupper’s Moot 2023.
