Tracey Richards

After Law school & LPC in 1995 I obtained articles in private practice and concentrated in criminal law Then I obtained a job as a legal adviser for the magistrates courts and have been there for 15 years My role involves - providing legal advice to magistrates and court users in criminal courts about law, practice and procedure - making judicial decisions to progress a case - assisting magistrates to evaluate evidence and formulate reasons for legal decisions - conducting legal research to clarify points of law and analysing implications of case law and legislation - devising and delivering training to magistrates and court users During my 18 years PQE, I have extended my experience by gaining a recognised training qualification in 2008. As a result I have regularly drafted training materials and delivered training sessions for magistrates, colleagues and defence solicitors. This role requires me to keep up to date with developments in the law and to fully understand the various methods of learning and how different delegates require different training methods so I to adapt my sessions to ensure they achieve the maximum learning experience. So my 20 years experience of criminal law means I have gained extensive knowledge of the law and its application in the courts
