Grace

In June 2015 I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first class degree in Law and I am currently working as a tutor in Brighton. I tutor Law to students at Sussex and Brighton University, and Maths and History for A Level and GCSE students. For students who are currently applying for University I am giving tutoring sessions about how to write a good personal statement and on how to pass the LNAT test. I enjoy tutoring University students a variety of papers including Tort Law, Land Law, and Contract Law. Beforehand I set my students problem questions for us to work through during the tutorial and I encourage them to send me any questions which they have. Each week I mark essays for my students and give them detailed feedback as to how to improve. I am well suited as a tutor for a number of reasons. Firstly, I am a very reliable and organised person which is extremely important as a tutor due to having to make various arrangements with all my students. From a young age I was a regular childminder for a number of families in my local area. I was able to manage my arrangements with various different families around school and college, illustrating my excellent organization with times and dates. Secondly, I am able to naturally form a good rapport with the students who I teach and build a good relationship with them. This is important to ensure that students are not embarrassed about asking any questions and can learn to the best of their abilities. Thirdly, my experience as a tutor and teacher has developed my oral communication skills and I am able to explain difficult concepts to students in a clear way. Last summer I completed the TFEL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course while teaching in a summer camp in China for five weeks. The experience taught me a lot about different teaching techniques and I learnt how to effectively plan lessons. I love working as a tutor because of my passion for teaching and I would like to help more young people fulfil their full potential whilst studying law at University.
