Judgement for the case Cala Homes v Alfred McAlpine Homes

C, Cala Homes, claimed copyright in design drawings for homes. One of C’s directors had been responsible for the drawings, though the actual drawings themselves were made by C’s architects. C had closely instructed the architects during this process, both verbally and by means of sketches. Held:
·       C can be joint author even if he has not himself created anything material
·       On facts, C was joint author of design drawings.
