These essays range from the transition from Roman colony to Anglo-Saxon Britain, exploring the coming of Christianity, the nature of kingship, the period's relationship with literature (e.g. Beowulf), the reign of King Alfred the Great, and the later Viking and Norman Conquests.
More notes are available and will be uploaded in summer, but the essays contain the most pertinent examples and the important points of narrative structure for the period, along with discussion of major sources and historiography.
These notes formed the basis of my revision for the exam, on which I scored 77 (one of the highest firsts possible in an arts subject). This score contributed to my undergraduate scholarship.
The notes should prove an excellent introduction or concise revision tool, whilst also providing arguments as food for further thought.
